ZIP, RAR, ACE and other formats have nothing against UHARC – this high compression multimedia archiver has a much better compression ratio and consequently, it can save you more space when you archive data. Developer Salvatore Ravida came up with the WinUHA application for those who want to use UHARC instead of ZIP, RAR, ACE, and so on. WinUHA is a nice GUI (that’s short for Graphical User Interface) for UHARC. Use WinUHA to create UHA archives and to extract data from such archives.

Downloading the WinUHA 1.4MB installation file will take little time; going through the setup wizard that shows up when you run the aforementioned file will take little time as well. You will be asked to choose the installation directory and pick if you want a desktop icon. When you’re done with the installation and you run the application for the first time, you will be informed that donations to support WinUHA are welcome.

You can use WinUHA from the right click context menu or from its very easy to figure out interface. There’s nothing complicated about this interface: a dropdown menu to pick one of your drives at the top, a Folders tree view to the left, and a pane to the right that displays the content of the folder selected from the left hand side.

As mentioned above, you can use WinUHA to create UHA archives and to extract content from such archives. You can do this either from the right click context menu or from the application’s interface. To archive a folder, right click it and select the “WinUHA: Add to Archive...” option or select it from the application’s interface and hit “Add Selected.” Extracting data is a similarly easy and simple process.

You can use WinUHA for as long as you want without having to part with your hard earned money. Cons:
None that I could think of.

Pros

It will take little time and minimum effort to get WinUHA up and running. The application integrates with the context menu. It’s a pleasure to work with the simple interface. Easily create UHA archives; just as easily extract the content of UHA archives. Support for multiple languages is provided. WinUHA is freeware (consider making a donation).

Cons

ider making a donation though if you like WinUHA and you want to support the project. With WinUHA, you can easily create UHA archives. And the nice thing is that UHA has a better compression ratio than WinZip, RAR, ACE, and so on.
